Now that every bride is convinced that all white weddings are not the main trend anymore, they started to consider more and more a wedding dress with color. But this trend of incorporating more color into the wedding gown dates since the early centuries, when different cultures – Chinese, Asian or Mexican had certain traditions of red, black or colored wedding dresses that brides had to wore on their wedding day.




That is why we can’t affirm that wedding dressed with color are something totally new and unheard of before. But in the European cultures, especially since the Victorian era and all the way until our modern days, brides were used to wear white flowing wedding dresses just to express the innocence, the chastity, purity, femininity and virginity of the bride. Since Queen Victorian set the trend of white wedding dresses, most brides tried to follow this route until it became a world known tradition.

But these days, anything is possible and only nothing is impossible. Brides of today are free to put on almost any type of wedding dress with color, without color, with funky and whimsical necklines, with shorter lengths or with sensual designs and unconventional themes. Most modern wedding affairs are usually held in different exotic and tropical locations rather then in traditional formal backdrop. Destination weddings are the most popular ones, more and more couples enjoy spending a romantic intimate and casual wedding day near the natural charm and beauty of the beach or the ocean.

These luxurious or unique locations required unique and distinctive wedding dresses too. That is why women started to consider wearing a wedding dress with color or a colored wedding dress that could fit more the vibrant décor. Among the most popular and fashionable colors that brides can choose from when it comes to create their own wedding dress are those pastel or skin toned ones, such as pale pink, blush, baby pink, peach, eggplant, egg white, pale yellow, butter yellow, pale blue, azure, turquoise, pearl gray, light violet, clear blue skies, cream, ivory, tomato red, lime green or emerald green.

On the other hand, brides can choose a wedding dress with color that features a more dramatic, bold and dynamic appearance, such as deep purple, teal, mauve, navy blue, ultramarine blue, hot pink, fuchsia, russet, scarlet red, magenta, burgundy, olive green, forest green, burnt orange, chocolate brown, bronze, gold, silver or black. Brides can incorporate these colors in the waistline of the dress, in the bust line, in the neckline, in the sleeve line, in the hem line, on the full skirt or any where else they want to. Using colored sashes, ribbons, lavish bows and different colored embroideries or appliqués is another option to obtain a superb wedding dress with color.
