Vintage used wedding dresses

Most brides today are vaguely interested in wearing a super modern and brand new wedding dress on the big day, but more interested in the old charm, beauty and elegance provided by an old vintage wedding dress. A vintage wedding dress is a dress that is inspired by the antique era of the ‘30s, ‘40s, or of ‘60s, embodying several principal aspects of the vintage classic period.

More and more women are drawn to these types of wedding dresses and are ready to consider one for their bog wedding day. But there are certain aspects that one must consider when buying a vintage wedding dress.

In most cases, modern brides who are willing to purchase and wear a wedding dress like that are usually looking for cheaper designs. And there is no other better place to look for old wedding dresses than in thrift stores, in consignments, in vintage boutiques or in second hand stores.

Therefore, for many brides, wearing a vintage used wedding dress does not seem like a very bad idea after all. As long as the prices are ok and the design provides the dress and the bride with that old fashion chic look, no one has anything to argue against wearing a pre-worn wedding dress. Even celebrities in Hollywood resort to such gesture of buying and wearing a vintage used wedding dress on their big wedding day.

There is something so beautiful, inspiring, unique, different and totally enchanting about vintage wedding dresses that more and more brides seem to acknowledge. But before purchasing a vintage used wedding dress from an antique bridal store, one must need to pay attention to several details. In general, these dresses have been pre-worn by another brider who decided to sell their own wedding dresses.

Those brides who receive a vintage old wedding dress as heirloom should feel happy to stay within the budget and keep the tradition. But those who are willing to purchase the vintage used wedding dress from a thrift store, should be very careful with the real condition of the dress.

For example, the material could be ruined here and there, and that is why it would be better to look for those wedding dresses at least from the ‘60s that have more chances of being “workable”. Synthetic fabrics are usually long lasting than other types of natural materials, and there are not that easy to deteriorate over time.

A retro vintage used wedding dress can look more acceptable and reasonable than a ‘30s wedding dress. Look for holes in the material, for stains, rips and tears, for missing buttons, beads or patterns, for unraveling or for any other damages that might make you support a reparation process. You can take the dress to a professional seamstress that can repair you the dress in order to look more presentable for the big day by removing the alterations or cover them cleverly.
