Length Of Bridemaid Dresses For Beach Wedding

Every wedding spent on a beach is a marvelous casual, flattering, flirty and romantic experience, for every single participant: the couple, the parents, the bridesmaids and the attendants of the wedding.

Since the environment of the wedding set is more natural, casual, loose and not that sophisticated, the bride and the bridesmaids have to dress in a more comfortable and light-weighted outfit. Not only the bride-to-be has to search for the most suitable beach wedding dress, but the bridesmaids have to dress according to the wedding location, landscape and formality of the wedding too.

One of the most essential questions that arise in the mind of those who are planning a destination wedding is about the length of the bridesmaids dress for a beach wedding. Well, if in most cases the destination brides are “allowed” to dress up in a shorter wedding dress, then the length of the bridesmaid dress for a beach wedding should reach about the same height. In general, when we think of sandy beach shores as wedding sets we imagine that the brides, the bridesmaids and the other female guests won’t wear a too voluminous, elaborated, complex, intricate and detailed long floor dress. Those cases when brides want to wear a full length trained wedding dress are extremely rare. And even in those cases the train of the dress is detachable so the bride could use it only for the photo sessions.

What is the point of wearing a sand sweeping dress that will be eventually ruined if dragged a few minutes through the sand! A beach wedding is one of the most popular exotic locations that allow you to wear something more slightly, practical, refined, simple and light.

The idea is to keep your appearance as much natural, organic, bare and casual as possible. You don’t go to a beach wedding just to feel uncomfortable in a too pompous and extravagant dress that won’t even enable you to breathe properly, move, dance through the sand and still have a good time. The most popular and chosen length of the bridesmaid dress for a beach wedding is the knee length. But this is not a standard length.

Tea length bridesmaid’s dresses are also in vogue these years especially since so many weddings have a vintage, retro or antique classy or funky theme. A knee length bridesmaid’s dress is more suitable for a semi-formal and more dainty or chic wedding, depending on how slim or voluminous the skirt is. For a wedding that has a more cosmopolitan and unconventional character or formality, the most suitable length of the bridesmaid dress for a beach wedding might be the above the knees or the short length. Even brides of today are opting for a short wedding dress, just to appear more attractive, sexy, eye-catchy and feminine.

I agree with what you are saying about the length of a beach wedding dress, no matter if for the bride and bridesmaids or for the guests. In fact, this is the main reason I wanted to have a beach wedding: to be able to wear a shorter wedding dress, as I’ve always wanted. However, you gave me a great idea about the detachable train. I never considered this type of train before and I think it would be perfect for the wedding ceremony more than for the photo session. As for the bridesmaids, if I wore a knee-length wedding dress, I want them to wear a slight shorter dress. Not too short, but just above the knee level. As I don’t know yet the length of my dress, I can just say I want the bridesmaids’ dresses a little bit shorter than mine.
