Conservative Wedding Dresses

We know that out there still are brides that dream of getting married in a conventional, conservative wedding dress, close to medieval wedding themes. Although modern times require more skin appearance and generous cleavage, there is a traditional theme that many women still adore.

A sexy look is always desired for the bold brides, instead, a conservative bride might choose a wedding dress that will cover lots of her body’s parts. Long sleeve, high neck and long dresses are characteristics of the conservative wedding dress.

Medieval weddings are still in fashion, where long, fluffy and fairy-tale aspect dresses still catch the eye of most traditional brides. In Medieval era, a bride’s dress couldn’t be other than a long sleeve wedding gown, a very conservator aspect for a very oppresses medieval woman. Medieval brides weren’t allowed to show very much skin in front of many people, that is why they were forced to cover themselves up until no part of the body could be seen. They weren’t allowed to wear naked shoulders, neck, braces or feet otherwise the purity symbol would have been broken for good.

But these conservative wedding dresses were a little too much conservative, if we thing about the real length of the sleeves: they were covering not only the shoulders and arms, but fingers too! Not to mention those hyperbolic looks of the wedding dresses that had sleeves long enough to touch the ground.

Today, the sleeved can be shortened and so can the neckline lose some material and be a little more generous in matters of skin appearance. These conservative wedding dresses are usually made from fine velvet, damask, silk, satin or lace. In the past, a bride who wore such a wedding dress, made out from any of these fabrics was considered to be part of a very wealthy family. The more material (for the sleeves), the more richness could be proved from the bride’s family.

Today’s conservative wedding dress is not that rigorous and full of material to cover the bride’s body, they are slightly different and much improved. The conservative wedding dress form this century is still a mark of purity, feminism and chastity, and most of original aspects are still preserved by the modern conservative wedding dress, if we can say so. Designers don’t create such long sleeves anymore, and in some cases the conservative wedding dress is sleeveless and strapless.

In today’s conservative wedding dresses we can observe that the bride’s personal style and taste is reflecting in her dress, as we couldn’t see long time ago in Medieval age. The “new” conservative wedding dress is more versatile, intriguing and less dependent on society rules and regulations. The conservative wedding dress is still elegant, classy still expressing an old fashion style of clothing that still catches our attention, just because it’s differently beautiful form the sexy, fancy models.

Does anyone know the name/designer of the first dress (gold lace – long sleeves) which appears under conservative wedding dress section.

Although the conservative type of dresses is not that conservative any more, I still find it very romantic and quite special, In a world where brides want to be very modern and expose as much of the skin as possible, from what I’ve seen at the last weddings i attended, I think that this covering style would be like a fresh breath for me. I like this style and it’s the one that suits me. I also think that you can choose those dresses that at the same time through details would be very fun or with a touch of joy. So I will go for this style and I have to say that from all the dresses I’ve seen so far the first one is one of my favourites and I wouldn’t have minded if the fingers were a little bit covered too.
