Black Leather Wedding Dresses

When you think about wedding gowns, white is the color in which you picture the bride being dressed while walking down the aisle. This can be regarded as a stereotypical image, especially since white is no longer perceived as the basic color for the bridal attire. Women decide to embrace their preferences and dress in the color of their choice on this special day. But there is one thing that has not changed that much as this refers to the cut of the dress.

While there are numerous models and fabrics from which the wedding gown can be made, it has always been obvious that the design has to allude to the nature of the event and this meant that the dress had to be extravagant and to impress though the artistic detailing on it. From taffeta to chiffon and from lace to satin, the wedding gown can consist of a combination of materials or can be made out of a single fabric with elegant embroidery attached to it. And yet there was something festive about the material itself that ‘oozed of wedding’.

But what about leather wedding gowns? These dresses are definitely outside the pattern of bridal attire. Some brides decide to have white leather so as to be reminiscent of the traditional bride in a way, but others go to the extreme and dress in black leather on their wedding day. This type of dress is not suitable for all the brides and there has to be a theme to the wedding as a whole in order to not be out of place with your choice of outfit. A bride wearing a black leather wedding dress is usually seen as a ‘biker chick’, even if this is a biased perception.

In reality, only an edgy person can pull off such a gown because it is necessary to have a powerful personality so as to wear the dress and not the other way around – the dress wearing you. Maybe you have heard of this expression; it refers to women who seem at lost in the dress so that they become invisible, the dress being the focal point while the wearer is lost in the background, so to speak. It is not mandatory to have a tight wedding dress with a corset that emphasizes your silhouette. If you want to make the dress to be more in tone with the event, you can have a black ball gown with leather inserts in it, thus conveying a more wedding-related appearance.
