No matter how much control women had in that time concerning the way they had to walk and dress, no one can deny the beauty and the elegance of those bygone era dresses. But perhaps precisely these impediments and rules that were applied very tough, have made gowns and dresses creations to be so beautiful and carefully designed. The 19th century wedding dresses were and still are a delight to those who enjoy wearing an old-fashion style, but still quite fashionable even today. There are many ladies that dream of having a wedding gown that will imitate or copy a 19 century wedding dress.
But let us tell you some more about how these dresses were created, by what means and the general idea during the 19th century in terms of wedding dresses. A bride from the 19th century would have to be, or at least appear very innocent, pure and to express chastity and a sensible feeling. We must mention as well that these dresses, the white dresses of the 19th century were very expensive and not all the brides were part of families who could afford to buy this kind of dresses.
We must remember that the 19th century was THE century of releasing the old preconceptions regarding the wedding dress, and how women must wear on their wedding day whatever they had in their closets at that time. 19th century was the first century that broke this rule, and allowed women to wear beautiful dresses created form the most skilled designers of that period.
But the problems appeared in the prices area, because a white beautiful wedding dress of the 19th century cost more than one simple bride could ever afforded to buy, and wear it just once in their lives, and after words to throw it somewhere deep in their rooms and never wear in again. That’s why designers were advised to create a simplest wedding dress, not too extravagant, so the brides could wear it on different other occasions too, besides the wedding day.

I believe 19th century gowns provide great inspiration for modern designers of wedding gowns. And from the two wedding gowns that you show here is understandable that the one which has more chances to be worn at a 21st century wedding is the first one. That dress is just superb and it is a superb combination of the two centuries. The line is magnificent, the embroideries are more than I would have dreamed of while the fabric is beautiful and of high quality. Unfortunately, the dress can be worn in just two cases: either if you are planning a princess themed wedding or if you are planning a 19th century themed wedding. I would go for the second variant, as the princess theme is less original nowadays. But with the 19th century in mind….
